1) Those kids couldn't see the movie in a theater without their parent's consent and their parents were not consenting. So why would the rule be different in the air? They are required to be in the seat by the airline and apparently the airline will not allow them the ability to opt out …

It is an interesting dichotomy that a significant part of the GOP speaks out against larger government, claims government regulation is stiffling America, etc.; but immediately turns around and see no problem with legislating (see regulating) morality.

We can speculate on bad roads, we can speculate on poor drivers, we can speculate on higher alcohol and/or drug use. OR we could think about the injury difference between crashes that happen at 45 MPH vs. 65 MPH.
